Simbarashe’s Story: Getting Ready for the Future with a Credential Evaluation

WES Advisor | November 25, 2024

Simbarashe Muzariri, a WES credential evaluation applicant who works as an engineer in Zimbabwe, has a long-term goal of continuing his career abroad in Canada.

Education has played a defining role in Simbarashe’s life, greatly influencing his career path and goals. Now he’s preparing to unlock new opportunities by getting a WES credential evaluation.

Realizing the Value of Education

Thanks to the encouragement of his community, Simbarashe realized the value of education at a young age. “For those who embraced [education] and endured the hardships of obtaining it, their lives have significantly improved, hence a better image of our family and community,” said Simbarashe.

While in secondary school, Simbarashe developed an interest in engineering which he pursued through an apprenticeship and formal academic programs. First, he earned a National Diploma in Drafting and Design Technology, and then a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Harare Polytechnic College.

Now, with only a final project left to complete, Simbarashe is focused on obtaining a Bachelor of Technology in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Zimbabwe’s National University of Science and Technology.

Seeking Professional Growth

In addition to completing his degree, Simbarashe works as a Reliability Engineering Manager at Revco (Pvt) Ltd., a Zimbabwean company specializing in bearings and power transmission products. In this role, he manages a maintenance team, analyzes data, provides consultations, and trains others in engineering.

“My current job comes with challenges, analyzing data and prescribing engineering solutions to mines and industries across Zimbabwe,” said Simbarashe. “It is, however, an interesting job which fosters personal and corporate growth.”

Equipped with his education and professional experience, Simbarashe is considering the next steps toward accomplishing his long-term goal of securing employment and settling in Canada. His vision is to work for an established engineering firm and eventually start a reliability engineering contracting and consulting company of his own while contributing to the country’s economy.

Preparing for the Future with a Credential Evaluation

To achieve his goals, Simbarashe understands that having his international credentials recognized and understood in a new country is essential. That’s where a WES credential evaluation comes in. A WES evaluation report will help present and verify his Zimbabwean education and allow potential employers to understand how his education and experience align with local qualifications.

Simbarashe encourages others to consider obtaining a credential evaluation if they want to live or work abroad in Canada or the United States. “The process is traceable, and you’ll receive updates every step of the way,” he said, describing his credential evaluation experience with WES.

If you’re like Simbarashe and have your sights on moving to, and working in Canada or the U.S., a WES credential evaluation is an investment in your future. Learn more about our evaluation reports for Canada and the U.S.
