How to Get Your Degree from the Philippines Evaluated

WES Advisor | June 24, 2024

Let’s talk about why a credential evaluation report could be a useful tool. A credential evaluation can help you make full use of the skills, training, and education you received in the Philippines.

It allows organizations such as academic institutions, licensing boards, and employers to compare your degree and credentials to U.S. or Canadian educational standards. Being able to include a credential evaluation during the screening, admissions, or hiring process can streamline the process for both applicants and organizations.

Whether you’re at the beginning stages of planning your relocation or you already live in the U.S. or Canada, receiving a credential evaluation will help you leverage the education you obtained in the Philippines—and set you up to pursue your goals with confidence.

Getting started with a WES credential evaluation

If you studied in the Philippines and need a WES credential evaluation for immigration, professional, or academic purposes, follow these steps:

  1. Complete an online application
  2. Receive your unique WES reference number—you’ll need this number in your communications and to help your institution submit your documents to WES.
  3. Work with your institution to submit your required documents for evaluation.

Once WES has received, verified, and accepted all your required documents, we will begin the credential evaluation process.

Use our required documents tool to preview a list of documents we will need for your evaluation. This can be helpful to know before applying for your credential evaluation.

Sending Your Academic Documents

Once you have submitted your application for credential evaluation, your next step is to coordinate submission of your official academic documents. You can view a list of your required documents and instructions for submitting documents in your WES account.

To have your secondary school or university credentials evaluated, you need to ask your school to send WES your official transcript that lists all completed coursework. Documents can be sent by postal mail or through electronic channels.

Whenever possible, we encourage institutions to utilize an established secure digital channel to share documents with WES. If your institution does not have such an arrangement with WES, you can encourage institutions to complete our Digital Partnership Form

If sending documents electronically is not possible, you must ensure your records are provided in a sealed envelope. Your institution may send this to WES directly, or they can send you the documents in a sealed envelope, which you can forward to WES.

If you no longer live in the Philippines, we recommend using the Academic Records Request Form to facilitate the request. An institutional official can complete the form and send it with your documents to WES. This form is not required for evaluation purposes however it can be helpful in facilitating this process.
