Please plan to join WES for the session, “Sustainability and Replicability of Programs for Foreign-Educated Immigrants” at the National Immigrant Integration Conference (NIIC) 2017, Dec. 10-12 in Phoenix.
Part of the “Adult Education and Workforce” track of the conference, the WES session on December 12 will explore the needs of foreign-educated immigrants and how to sustain efforts to reduce barriers to their employment. Leaders working in advocacy, workforce, adult education, and immigrant services from around the country will share strategies to engage partners, policy-makers and funders to create, develop and fund programs to serve this population while addressing local skills shortages. Learn about the first competency-based apprenticeship program for work-authorized immigrants in healthcare, how a local workforce board began drawing Title I WIOA funds into a program dedicated to supporting immigrant professionals, and the story of a community college program that is putting Arizona on the map.
Stacey K. Simon, of World Education Services and IMPRINT, will moderate the session, which will include presentations from: Eva A. Millona, of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, and National Partnership for New Americans; Nicole A. Pumphrey, of the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians; Janie McDermott, of the Baltimore Alliance for Careers in Healthcare; and Montserrat Caballero, of the Pima Community College in Tucson.
