What is a credential evaluation?
A credential evaluation report is a standard admissions requirement for international students applying for admission to higher education institutions throughout the United States and Canada. A credential evaluation report highlights your academic achievements and verifies your qualifications.
Your World Education Services (WES) credential evaluation report describes each credential you have earned using standard U.S. or Canadian education terminology and includes an equivalency statement comparing your credentials to similar credentials in the U.S. or Canada.
A WES credential evaluation can:
- Support requirements for university or college admissions
- Help you obtain professional licensing and employment
- Be upgraded as you earn additional credentials
Why WES?
Thousands of U.S. and Canadian higher education institutions, employers, licensing bodies, and others rely on WES credential evaluation reports for clear, consistent, and trustworthy analysis of educational qualifications earned abroad. WES is trusted because:

Do I need a credential evaluation?
Most universities in the U.S. and Canada require credential evaluation reports from applicants who have earned their credentials in other countries. The analysis of grades, verification of degrees, and equivalency statements are all critical to the admissions process and to final offers of admissions.
Why now?
Graduate school applications require a substantial investment of time and money. You can use your credential evaluation report to help you understand how your coursework and grades compare to admissions requirements at top programs and institutions. Once you understand where you have the best chances of being admitted, you can then decide which schools are right for you.
Note: Most universities require that you are in your final year of coursework before you apply for a credential evaluation (for example, have completed at least three years of a four-year program) so that they can make an informed admission decision.
